I have a 1972 f100 4x4 that I'm wanting to lift about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. I have googled coil springs all afternoon until I have realized 1) I don't know how to use the internet(very likely) or 2)the info is not readily available(not likely). I'm really just looking for the factory spring length and weight rating. I am going with a 390 engine so I'm sure I will need a heavier spring and maybe even twin shock the front. I'm not really looking for part numbers for new springs or lift kits I am looking more towards boneyard parts. Thanks in advance for any info or advice you may have.
Thanks,
Mark

Unfortunately you will have a hard time finding reliable spring length info. There are a few ways to hold a truck up, and all will cause the springs to be different lengths.

Your best bet might be to look at TTB springs. I think they tend to be pretty long and a little softer. See how they look. If so, if you need to cut a little bit off of them, your rate wont be so stiff

Lower the upper coil buckets on the frame 2.5-3".

Moog has a spring listing for every spring they make. I'll see if i can find the link.

Lists them by part number, and all sizes and specs. You can use oreilly or autozone etc website to cross part number to application.

Ordered springs for my dads truck off amazon. Build his 4 link using caddy Calais rear springs but swapped to eldorado springs to get another 1.5"

The info is out there but it takes some work. I'll see what I can dig up this evening.

I'm going to pull the motor & tranny out this week and may take one of the coil springs out so I can measure it.
I didn't even think about lowering the upper coil buckets drkelly that wouldn't be very hard since I have the truck disassembled right now.
Thanks guys

So what's the down side of moving the upper spring buckets and using the stock springs? The buckets look to be bolted on anyway.

Good point Fabrik8 although I was going to raise the back with a 3" block anyway.
Thanks for the input
