Looking into buying some 16”- 18” coilovers for the front of my ZJ. Does any one know the best place and the easiest on the wallet?
Thanking about Kings 2.0-16” Please let me know any thing that will help me out on this hunt. This is the 1st for me…

(96 ZJ long arm running Dana 60’s locked 5.13 gears 38.5 boggers)

Search Pirate Vendor forum for deals.

I can tell you King's are the Rolls Royce and are priced as such. Sway-a-ways or Fox are less expensive.

14's will cost you less with springs, BTW..

I got my SAW's from "Slowandold" on the PBB, he had the best deals.

Dead on. Get SAW from "slowandold" then get QA-1 springs. Cheapest combo you can do with quality parts IMHO.

on ebay they sell the 2.5 kings with springs for like $1200 and 2.0 for like $1030 and free shipping which isnt to bad for a set of coil overs.

Thats where I got my coilovers, he accepts offers lower than what his "buy it now" is. He was great to deal with, he called me up to see what vehicle they were going under and they showed at my door already charged.

at door already charged is nice.

yeah I didn't expect them to come charged, I also got some springs from him. I used 1 eibach and 1 QA-1, Eibach changed their color to silver so the springs match.

I can guarantee I've got less than $2000 in all 4 of my coilovers, and that includes the tenders and triple-rate sliders which add another $50 per corner.

I've only got them on the front but if I get them for the rear I will have way under $2000 in mine as well. Kings are nice however I don't think they are necessary for what we do. I think Fox or SAW is the way to go if you are into rock crawling.

Don't go with 2.5" body shocks. Springs...especially the long ones...add up very quickly and nobody sells/trades them. I found out the hard way. 2.0's are perfect for what we do.

If I were to do it over again, I would do exactly what rich said.

x2, i was all set on going with FOA shocks until I realized they only sold 2.5" shocks. QA-1 doesn't make 3" springs to fit them so I would've had to spend a lot more money on springs just to run FOA. I ended spending the same on Fox coilovers that would have on the FOA because QA-1 springs are so much cheaper.

Everyone else is trying to help you with the price....my question is why 16-18 in the front?? Are you running full hydro? Good luck trying to keep tierod in it if you are not. 14s should be more than enough travel to get you where you want to go if they are set up properly.

Just a thought

Seth

Thanks guys I think I might go with the swayaways ? I need to get the rear done and see how big I need the front to be.
Should be done with the rear this weekend. Thanks for all the good advise guys and if anyone has set some up before and is in G-boro your more than welcome to by and nit pick what I have going on LOL
Thanks Matt C

I'm with Seth on the 14s, they will be plenty. I have to really limit my pass side to keep the front driveshaft from binding. And unless you are sure that you can set everything up perfect the first time, you may want to consider ordering the coilovers from Poly Performance. Thay have the knowledge to help you dial in spring rates, and valving. They will also trade springs out with you as long as you don't scratch them up too bad. It will cost you more, but its hard to put a price on customer service, I have no complaints in my dealings with Dave at Poly.
