one easy quicker way to break them in if you can't get newer softer ones is park it overnight each day if possible on something that maxes out the front or close to it and switch every couple days...i know sounds crazy but it works keeping the spring completely compressed like that for hours on helps a lot to soften it up. I had 8" Iron rock full lift and had to do that and put weight on it for weeks to soften up the military grade leafs and the coils...just an idea
well good to know, thanks. I thought it worked on that one jeep I did as it did ride better but now I've learned it wasn't cause of what I was thinking!! good to know info. sorry to give off false input on this to the OP.You're making them yield or take a set. You can't change the spring rate like that, and you're not doing what you think you're doing. You're making the springs fail partially. If you need softer springs, get softer springs. Don't damage the ones you already have by yielding them.
I had RC on my XJ and swapped to an RE lift, totally different and better all the way around. You can take them off a older ford but they will be stiffer. I was looking at jk progressive spring but couldn't figure out if they would work and what size I would need. I ordered some Rubicon express springs and really like them
