Who rides their bike in the winter and what do your wear. I just got a 2011 Honda fury and have rode it some but would like to keep riding threw the winter so looking to see what gear you guys wear for riding.
Leather is the best, but cycle gear has some good stuff. I have frank Thomas textile jacket and pants. Depending on how cold it is, I just wear layers of long johns. 30* out side feels like 22* on the bike. I have rode on a 25* day with a joe rocket mesh jacket, long johns x3, hoodie and jeans and was fairly comfortable, but that was spirited riding and my adrenaline was up pretty high. IMO the best thing is just wait for 40+* days and get some good textile jacket and pants. And spend money on some good cold weather gloves. And the head socks at cycle gear (mines called turtle fur) keeps the wind from going in your helmet and down your jacket. And of course a full face helmet.
Gotta disagree on leather being the best. Put yourself into a good, insulated Tourmaster or Gerbings suit and you won't wear leather again. There. Those two are my suggestions for cold weather gear. I wear an insulated, non-electric suit and am good below freezing with only heated grips. Wear a full faced helmet with a thin balaclava and you're good to go. Of course proper boots and good insulated gauntlets will complete the package.
Well I wear all armored gear, but yeah the suits are better. Didn't even think about it. I have thought about getting a XL camo insulated suit to wear over my gear....
just good old fashion leather. have rode all my life in cold, rain and even rode back from daytona in a snow storm one year. just good old fashion leather. it don't really keep you warm but it looks much cooler and thats what gets the girls.
I went and bought some gloves today and a rain suit that the guy said blocks wind too so figure I could wear it over my camo hunting clothes and keep a eye out for one of the nicer suits or I've got family up north so could look for a leather snowmobile suit too.
I've got family in northern Michigan and sent them a text today to keep an eye out for me. I rode tonight and was reading 36 I had my coveralls on with a coat on over that and wore some new gloves I got at cycle gear today and was fine only thing cold was my neck.

Will have to make another trip to cycle gear and pick up one thanks. Rode to work last night and this am was about 34 and still warm so going to keep riding and saving on the diesel.
It's been great I have not driven my truck in over a week and normaly spend about 150 on fuel and have spent only 15 on the bike wish I would have got one sooner
Yeah it's fantastic I rode to work today. I'd ride more but I have been hauling tools back and forth and the tires on my bike are only good for a few more miles... I usually spend 70-80 bucks a week and I can go all week on 12. If I don't take the long way home.....it's adds about 50-100 miles a day. Then it's all about the same.
Yeah I get 42 if I beat on it and 50 if I take it real easy, and my jeep gets 11-12. It's a no brainer for me but I deff will be driving the jeep this Monday and Tuesday....
Electric grips. Wouldn't trade them for anything on my BMW. I'm wanting to put them on my dual sport for those chilly mornings on the forest service roads.
