coley build

Looks great Tim. What a difference a week can make :driver:

Tim,
Since this is a tech forum, I've been meaning to ask about mounting the upper link heims in the vertical plane. Appears you're on a roll with it (2nd-3rd rig?), so I was curious as whether motion was limited?
Pros?
Cons?

i guess motion would be limited, but have found that there is plenty of motion mounting that way. also it makes mounting easier and stronger.

When I was linking my last YJ, I did a little testing with some Currie joints mounted in that fashion, and I could use all 16" of travel in my air shocks if the links were a minimum of 33" long (IIRC). The misalignment in a flex joint can max out mounted vertically instead of horizontally, but the links on that jeep definitely seem long enough to not use all the misalignment in the flex joint.

Also note that because he is mounting the upper links like this, instead of the lower links, they won't have to travel as far... or use up as much of their misalignment range. Because the uppers are inboard of the air shocks, they should see much less movement overall.

rear

rear is basically done other than finish welding and mouting the seat and sway bar. also waiting on bump cans to show up.

How do you get the propane cans in, looks awful tight to getting them in. I'm liking the build though.

getting close to being finished with my part of this build. sprayed some paint, and reasseble things tonight.

build looks killer! something to think about, if this rig is going to get beat on i would consider plating the frame at the engine mounts. If you remember at mtn city back in august when i killed my dshaft, when i backed off of that rock and caught the steering box i killed the frame at my engine mounts. It dimpled up on the inside.

down the road.
