Recently changed positions at work, so I’ll be getting out into the plant more. I want a new pair of work boots. Must be composite toe so I don’t have to take them off when I go thru the metal detector. What do you guys recommend?

I've have had 6 pairs of composite toe araits and really like em. I wear my work boots 6-7 days a week and get a year or more out of them. I don't remember the model but the last 4 digits are 1200. I wear composite toe for the same reason you listed. I'd say 60-70% of the guys in our maintenance shop wear araits.

As I type this I'm wearing a pair of pants, and also a pair of Carolina boot LT152 composite toe slip on shoes. Most comfortable work/dressy shoes I've ever owned.

I had some pretty standard wolverine 6" boots I used for a few years at my last job. I had to do a lot of job site miles when I'd be deployed to a project, so I always went with the lightest I could find that didn't destroy my toes with a too-narrow safety-toe. Best bet is to hit the boot store and try on a bunch of stuff. I went through all kinds of brands over the years, as a lot of boots disappear or change over the course of a few years.

Also, I used to make fun of people with slip on shoes until I bought some.

Keen or timberland pro for me.

The last 3-4x as long as the top line red wing/wolverine craptastic ones.

I crawl around all day and stand on concrete at night.

X2 on find the brand that fits your foot better.

I like a taller heel as it makes my knees and back happier.

I did find a slip on Justin composite toe that fits very well that I wear a lot in the fall/winter. It has more of a hiking sole.

It lacks a toe overmold for the leather, and slip ons suck for crawling, so no day job use for these. Great for in the shop, or hunting as much easier to take on/off when muddy. They were great for long walks thru airports and going in and out of the rv at koh.

But I typically switch to my danner hiking style for long days in the woods where I won’t take them on/off frequently, mainly bc they are half the weight of the keen/timberland pro’s.

If you are insistent on a boot, ignore this, but Reebok sublite (athletic) are great for me ... stupid light and comfy.

I'm back and forth between Timberland Pro and Wolverine, but I always buy a 6" lace up boot. Slip-ons just seem heavy to me.

I just looked at their site after you mentioned that. It appears that they make a whole line of tactical boots with a composite toe. Obviously not the same as a work boot, but still a boot.

hiax airpower xr2

I get 2-3 years out of these. And apparently there is a refurbish program for them.

I have had a pair of Irish Setter c.toe boots for over 3 years now. They just started to look ratty. I am definitely getting another pair of those. They have outlasted my last 3 pair of wolverine's

I couldn't get out of the wolverines I tried on fast enough. I'd never be able to wear a pair out, they don't fit my foot right, the toe box is way too small.. actually that's true for most shoes - they aren't even foot shaped.

FWIW- I've been wearing composite toe Sketchers for a few years now. The memory foam makes them very comfy when on concrete.

Late to the party but I love my Red Backs. I do not have a pair of safety toes but that will be my next boot purchase.
