I picked up this new to me 26 gal kobalt compressor and it seems to be leaking around where the pressure switch attaches to the air manifold.

Thinking someone has been in this before, it had a boogered mounting screw and the surfaces were smeared with clear caulk.

I haven’t been able to find good parts diagrams to see how it was intended to go together, recess looks like an o ring could go in there or I’m thinking smear it with rtv or some sort of gasket.

Anyone been in one of these before to offer guidance or suggestions?

Not sure RTV would hold but worth a try.

I have a 40 year old myself 😑

Yes, it's definitely designed for an o-ring. You can measure the bosses and counterbores, and calculate the correct thickness and diameter. Or just stick some play doh in there and let it dry, then measure it. Or just stick some play doh in there, let it dry, then coat it with RTV :D

Sweet, the more I looked at it the more I thought o-ring. Grabbed an assortment box of them, gonna screw with it tonight.

Figure worst case, rtv should hold it fine. It seemed to have been working for awhile for the previous owner.

I prefer the assorted O ring kit from hf. No one has time to measure all that, swapping out ring till it doesn't leak is much quicker

Yeah, but I'm an engineer, so I have to a least mention the right way before myself using play doh and RTV. :D
