I am so far past being infuriated with insurance. That said, are any of you making use of a concierge or wellness doctors service?

If I signed up for what I’m “supposed” to sign up for when it comes to medical insurance coverage for myself, my wife and my 19 y/o. It would/could be 40-50% of my check. And I’d still have a $5000 deductible annually.

I’d rather sign up and pay a private doctor service for wellness and general health to stay healthy with preventative measures. Granted that doesn’t cover catastrophic issues. But that’s the roll of the dice isn’t it?

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone here has gone that route. Forego conventional medical insurance coverage and seek a more personalized coverage.

The more I look into foods, health, natural remedies, avoiding processed shit, understanding that the same pharmaceutical companies that make drugs also make pesticides to kill beneficial “weeds”, the more I want to get away from the system.

I looked into that a couple of years ago. Normally, primary care docs have about 2000-2500 patients. Concierge docs have around 500, so they have more time to dedicate to individual patients.

The ones i looked at you paid a service fee just to be a patient there of around 2000-10,000 a year. You are still charged full rates for each visit, which insurance covers. But there were a couple that didn't take insurance at all. Those were cheapest per-visit, but usually had a higher annual fee. And you still need insurance for the surprises and stupidity.

Ended up, I decided to stick with a traditional practice. Found a great doc that I hope I outlive.

That "roll of the dice" can bankrupt you.
