Looking at a house that has some concrete settling on the porch and garage slab. I've done some reading but wondered if anyone has any experience with this? What say you @Ron?

I'm an electrician...all I know about concrete is everytime its poured near anything I own it eventually cracks.

@shawn is more knowledgeable than I and for your sake I hope less drunkl

I think @6BangBronk has a lot of experience w/ concrete...

Pressure jacking will work as long as there is no underlying problem such as a foundation issue or undermining. If it's just a problem with the underlying substrate settling and that's why the slab cracked then it will lift the slab and fill the void.

I know my girlfriends parents had their porches done and it didn't really work much at all, they ended up just redoing them alltogher.

Can you find out who did the job? I'm just down the road and would hate to get them.

So do call these people or don't?
I called them. They told me I would need an engineer to look at what I need first but they come recommended from a contractor friend of mine.

Search around a foundation repair company. They usually pump the subgrade with a specific grout mix to stabilize and jack up certain areas in certain incidences.

Concrete: When in doubt, go stout. And try to do it right the first time.

I wouldn't spend a lot of time and money on an Engineer myself. I'd just bust it up and redo it??? But I try not to hire out ANYTHING if I can do it myself. Got any pictures???

True story: I know someone who had issues with his chimney pulling away from his house. So what did he do... He left the garden hose on it all night and it fixed itself due to the ground must have been so dry it was compacting underneath. Haven't heard from him in a while though to tell you if it stayed?
