So, today I got started running conduit out to the carport.

It is a straight shot out from the house, 75' total underground. Going to run a 1.5 or 2" for the generator power to the auto switch (2-2-2-4), a 3/4 for 120v for carport lights, and another, either 1/2 or 3/4 for control/start wires for the generator.

Since the crawl space is sealed (plastic up to just shy of the sill) and insulated (foam board on the walls), I am just going to run the conduit up the side of the house a couple of feet, and go thru the band joist with an LB. It will be hidden behind shrubbery in this area, so appearance doesn't matter too much.

The problem is, the footing at this point is about 6" below the finished grade, and sticks out about 6" from the brick wall. The problem is, how to I handle this with the conduit, and not have too many bends? After I get it turned and running down the trench, there are no more bends until I get to the carport area, where I will turn up vertical with a 90* sweep.

I'm thinking I'll have to offset it....using a 45 just above grade, a 45 once I am clear of the footing, then a 90* sweep at the bottom of the trench. This would give me a total of 270* of bends for the whole run.

Or should I just do a 45 just above grade, then another at the bottom of the trench (although then, the conduit wouldn't hit 18" deep until a couple of feet out from the house). This is a total of 180* of bends for the whole run.

Alternative is to break out the hammer drill, and eat away at the footing. I don't think the inspector would like that, would he?

Sealant and bore horizontal to trench? Me I like the fact your avoiding the hole in the wall.

Maybe bore a through hole next to the exterior block to avoid the offset vs. Chunking out the entire footer?

Or over size the conduit to make the bends easier to pull and neck down past the trench....

Worst case pull through kinked areas to open pipe then refeed and reconnect. Or a burried junction box.

I decided to throw in the couple of offsets. I upsized the conduit to 2" to help make up for the pull. Only 7 sticks, so not too much extra to upsize.

I dont know if the trench is still open.... but i would take the opportunity to atleast put in another pipe to run a water line in at some point, if not put the water line in now. PEX is fairly cheap, while the trench is open.

Also, I would foam/seal up the ends of the conduit, to help minimize dirt/water getting into them. If you ever have to replace/add something you will be glad.
