Convertidiot - noun - a person who lowers the top on his or her convertible vehicle, lowering the front windows, but leaving the small rear 1/4 windows up like some kind of moron.

Do they not know what the other 2 switches under the other window switches do? too much work to press 2 more buttons?

Around 1990, my Uncle came down to Florida to visit, and he rented a 1990-ish Mustang GT convertible (same body style as above). He had all 4 windows up but the top down, and while my rather hefty grandmother was attempting to get into the car, used the 1/4 window as something to lean on... *pop*, and in she went, face first. Everyone found it funny except her... :lol:
 
I hate to give excuses to anyone, but those cars were also notorious for bruning up the regulators and they are a PITA to get to
 
arent the convertibles also 4 cylinders? i dont see any 5.0 badging on the front fender. the dubs are clean though!

no, they were available in gt trim (5.0) also.

that bothers me when i see just the quarter windows up too. of course, they could be broken... i had a dodge 600 convertible in high school and the passenger side quarter window quit working. wierd little car... had manual door windows, but an electric top and quarter windows.:rolleyes:

Nope, certainly not, I see it everywhere, on all kinds of cars, with all kinds of people in it.

It was a 5.0 by the way. (Technically a 4.9 since the displacement was 4942cc)

I worked with a kid who put a 5.0 badge on a Frod Probe. USed to always ask him if it was the new Probestang Ford was dreaming up :)

I was behind a Miata one day and it had a 5.0 badge on the back, but it also had dual 3 inch exhaust and took off like a bandit... guess they weren't joking with the badge ;) That car was super quick and sounded nice.
 
5.0 miata is a common swap (though common isn't really the right word).
 
They call them the Monster Miata. Like a Callaway vette or Hennesee(sp?) Viper or a real Rousch stang....some company creates the Monster Miata and its scary badass.Saw it on TV

And because it is only common when considering motor swaps for miatas.
 
There is a guy in greenville that has a 427 stroker sbf in a miata....

its sorta quick...

just for kicks he added nitrous, but said he has never had the balls to dump it...
 
Anyone seen a 5.0 focus? I saw some hot rod show where they put one together. It was wierd watching them drive it. It was like the sound track was from something else.
 
Those arent windows...They're stabilators!

Over about 150 with the top is down, the Mustang convertibles would begin "knee slappers" without em. These go up automatically above 135. Especially helpful in cornering as they help control yaw

You can order these for other makes as well! Very common on BMW 3 series converts!

I use to have that exact car, 89 GT convt. John has it now. I too think it looks dumb as hell when people do that. Whenever I had the top down, all four windows were down. I think you look like a total dork driving around in a convert with the top down and the windows up.
