Anbody done this before? what parts are needed?

thanx alot

IIRC you can use the ford outers on the waggy axle to change the bolt pattern.
Thats what I plan to do with mine.

machine the inner bearing surface and run Ford hubs and rotors, do some web searching. I was worried about having less meat on the inner bearing surface bt I've done wheelstands and come down hard, no problem. I run FSJ/Chevy outers to have the Chevy flattops, Ford flattops are harder to find I think

When I changed mine, I welded up the old holes & drilled the new. Be aware of the pre-heat process to keep the structural integrity of the brake rotor & the hubs.

Typically people use the "Small bearing" spindles from '74-'77 (IIRC) disc brake waggy axles or the GM Dana 44 spindles ('76.5 back), F*rd hubs & rotors and the GM/Jeep calipers & brackets.
This is a fairly common swap on early broncos.

Another simpler solution is to get outers from a 81 and down CJ. They are a 6 bolt spindle and can be had cheap. The only drawback here is that they don't use the internal spline hubs like the Ford does. Just another option to add to what everyone else has offered.

What CJ had a 44 up front?

Let me get this straight....

my axle is a '78 waggy

I Need:

-ford hubs and rotors
-'74-'77 Disc Waggy spindles or '76.5 back GM D44 Spindles. (or i can have mine machined down to fit the small bearings)

Reuse:

Calipers and brackets

Please Correct me if something is wrong.

where and how do i buy the smaller bearings and rotors? the parts stores have to have a vehicle to search by.

All you need is the correct bearings and the 79 ford hubs and roters that can be gotten form any parts store.

i do not have to change my spindles?

change your spindles to the '74-'77 Disc Waggy spindles or '76.5 back GM D44 Spindles... this will give you the smaller bearing surface...

then go and get bearings, hub, and rotor for 79 Ford...

Reuse knuckle, caliper, caliper bracket, and stub...

As said, you can also get everything from the balljoint out on a 79 Ford and swap it on (including stub shaft)

thanx alot for the help everyone
