Here are a few photos I thought some might enjoy from a site I visited yesterday that is looking at upfitting their aging equipment.
This first picture is a piston.

now for reference I sat my notebook down in front of the piston. This is a standard portfolio with an 8.5" x 11" notebook inside it.

Next up the intake valve. On the left is the intake for their current generator and on the right is the intake valve from a small block chevrolet. Also on the tabl a SBC piston and in the background a piston ring for this motor.

Finally a couple photos of a connecting rod.

I asked how heavy it was and John did his best to lift it, but was unable. For reference John is 6'2" and weighs about 225.

What is that powering?!

Cooper-Dresser.
The facility has local high schools shop classes come through for field trips and has thee piston and valve there for reference.
An old ass generator....low RPM continuous duty cycle rated.

John appears to be attempting to 'swing a large rod'

(at least that's what my coworkers & I would betrying to pose for pics @ a job site)

I got to take a walk around the natural gas pump station that boosts the line pressure in Lexington and the pistons and connecting rods were the same size if not a little larger. The oil filter for the engine was the size of a 55 gallon drum and the radiator out side the building were 25'x25 I do believe. And the turbos were so large an average sized man could crawl through them. It blew me away at the size of everything. The engine it self was the size of a house and the mufflers look like silos.
