Cool places to take a truck camper

I have a very basic pop up truck camper I use it mostly for when I go weelin but my wife and little girl do enjoy it at Carolina beach and I'm looking for more places like that I to go and enjoy with them and hopefully get them more into camping.
I like the remote aspect but there girls so I can't be to far away from society lol

Kings Mtn state park is nice. Wife used to work there. Every Halloween the campers would all decorate and the kids would trick or treat. The sites would get booked early each year for that.
 
Kerr Scott Damn and Reservoir Area, excellent boating, fishing, paddling, and mountain biking. Army corps no full hookups power and water though.
 
i was wondering about taking these out on carolina beach. messed up this past dec. and didnt get the early bird pass. wont miss it this yr. I used to work at Tom Johnsons Camping Center. They have their own campground not much there. but you camp there and hit several nice spots in the area for the mtn tourist. there is also a few campgrounds there in mcdowell co worth checking out. I delivered and set up campers at them, but right now cant rem the names.But there was a couple worth looking up. There is a few camp grounds dn here at myrtle beach. Im 2.5 miles from Ocean lakes
I also have a basic slide in. No bathroom or shower and use it for the same as u. atleast it beats the old tent, and has heat and ac. Ive been thinking about upgrading. problem is a short bed truck. seems bathroom option is on 8 ft campers.

Ya I have a 5.5 foot bed so even worse for me they make lots of 6ft with the bathroom there just all newer so your going to pay for it one company makes a bad ass 5.5 foot with everything but it's 20k so out of the question for me
 
Davidson River in Pisgah Nat. Forest. Feels like the middle of nowhere, but you're 5 minutes from town with decent food, etc. There's a fishing river/swimming hole in the campground, and you're minutes away from like 14 waterfalls, sliding rock included.

Grayson Highlands. Blueberry picking, wild horses, hiking, history, it's beautiful.

Hurricane Campground VA. Haven't been there myself, but I want to someday. I just happened upon this place one day when the wife and I played hookie from work and went for a drive in the hills. Saw a sign for a campground and decided to check it out. No hookups whatsoever. Not a lot of spots, and they're all pretty small, but you can get one right on a babbling brook. It's about a mile down a single-lane gravel road and it's one of the most serene places I've ever seen to camp. Apparently it's one of the top 10 boondocking campgrounds in the US. On the way out, we took the single-lane unmarked gravel road. Disappeared off the GPS! It was a pretty cool place. We will go back. Til the Last Hemlock Dies: Hurricane Campground, Virginia.

who makes it? would like to dream a lil. lol
was thinking about doing the big slide in on a goose neck but that would leave out dragging it out on carolina beach and areas like that
