Cool Rig

My guess would be oil money....

So how much sense does it make to have a bullet proof cab and then have some very exposed (and very large) boggers that are screaming " shoot me" "shoot me"?

foam filled (likely). But I'd worry more about IED's but having thought that: theirs a bomb, bullet, missile, tank, what ever to kill just about anything. This is why I'd personally have to be guerilla/sniper to fight in modern war. I personally can't picture in my head fighting modern war as an enlisted man and being cannon fodder for foreign soil and interest. If I was a foreign aggressor the two thing our forces have that would absolutely render me paralyzed and useless is a sniper first and the Apache Helicopter next. One your dead before you hear it, the other you just can't hide from.

But back on topic: I'd love to strip it and rock it down I40 daily!

actually, it makes alot of sense, put the tires and axles separate from the body, so in event of mines/IED/grenade they are the only exposed parts and hopefully the body integrity remains intact-look at our own MRAPs that also have exposed axles/tires but a boat hull type design to resist explosions

I see 54" Boggers, beadlocks (probably double bead locks), portals, links, coilovers, air bumps, and full hydro steering....Hell, any of us could have designed that rig for them! Most of us would love to have one of those to wheel anyway! I wonder what kind of axles they have in them....

My only question....why didn't they just use a Duramax instead of a 6.5? Sure it's cheaper....but aren't we done beating those dead horses yet?

the first thing to come to mind is that a duramax is common rail injection, where a 6.5 is still mechanical-this comes into play for EMP resistance in military applications as well a 6.5's being able to run on just about any junk you throw in the tank

I figured as much...plus...they're WAY cheaper. If that's the case, I'd drop a 12 valve Cummins in it, but I guess it really doesn't need it. I mean, it's got portals so I'm sure it has plenty of gearing.

if it's like any other military vehicle the engine will never see enough use to matter. Especially in sandy or desert enviroments. They swap them out for brand spanking new ones. Im sure this has it's specific purposes and has runflats like the hummers and many other light vehicles.
