Looking for some opinions on cordless impacts. I'm looking for something that I can throw in truck when going on trip to use in the event of a flat on truck or trailer. And also would probably use in the shop some to keep from dragging hose around. I looked around online and prices go from about 100-600. What do you have and do you like it.

We bought, and like, two of the Dewalt 1/2" drive battery impacts at work. I work in an industrial setting and they have yet to let us down, they would have no problem with lug nuts.

Is it one of the smaller compact 18v or is it about the size of a 18v drill.

Yes. I carry one with the jeep. They work great and if u have 2 batteries will do most work all day.

And 18v dewalt and Milwaukee are about same price.

I've got the smaller version of the 1/2" drive Dewalt. It generally will not break lugnuts loose, but otherwise it does everything I need it to. I love the feel and size of it. Its been through a lot of drops and had oil spilled on it, but its still going strong. I'd like to get the bigger one so I could do heavier work like lugnuts without cutting the compressor on, but as long as you break em loose with a breaker bar, its really not a big deal.

I have the 18V SnapOn at work, I'm amazed at how powerful it is, but it is big $$ compared to dewalt. I used a 36V dewalt when i was in Iraq, kept it on my wrecker, never let me down.

I have a small 12v 1/2" drive Bosch, it does good for it's size, probably more comparable to a really good 3/8" drive impact (will normally take off Toyota lugnuts). I also have a craftsman 19v impact that was only $120, I dont use it everyday so I didnt need a $$$ one, it will break most lugnuts loose, sometimes wont do the big ones on diesel trucks. I have been very pleased with it based on price.

I borrowed a guys Hilti impact to take off some man hole cover bolts and I was amazed powerful it was. I'm sure it was very expensive but it was impressive.

Ive got a 18v dewalt 1/2" and think its junk honestly, but i am also used to several of my friends have snapon 1/2 and 3/8. The dewalt 1/2 doesnt even compare to the snapon 3/8......but then theres the price o_O

I've used both but will still pick the DeWalt over the snap on.

I have the m-12 set with the 3/8th impact, screw gun, sawzaw, drill and flash light. And I would buy it all over again. The milwaukee stuff has a 5 year warranty on the tool and 2 year on the batteries. I want to try the m-18 stuff but they are expensive and have no real use for 1/2 18volt stuff. My 3/8ths is noticeably stronger than the bosch stuff. It's just slightly too weak for lug nuts but I swear it can almost do it. And the grip and weight is better than the Bosch and makita stuff. I have never used the dewalt stuff. But the milwaukee stuff just has that durable well made feeling IMO.

then your using the wrong snap on gun.

Ive got an electric DeWalt and it doesnt have the ass my LiOn snap on battery gun has.
To be honest Ive yet to find anything my 1/2" air gun will break that the 1/2 cordless impact wont. The only thing that has stopped the 1/2 cordless so far my 3/4 air wouldnt budge either....

Plus the Snapon impacts are made in Murphy NC, that is the gun not the batteries.....

Could you pm me a price on a 1/2 18v snapon snappy

18v dewalt is the way to go. Its stout. Hasn't failed me yet on a full battery. Its a big sob too. Size comparison.

Dewalt: $140 Snapon: $400 hmmm... maybe snapon if I used it daily for work or sumn.

I don't own dewalt 18v stuff so I would have to buy the kit with charger and batteries so that dewalt is 300

This.

I traded my dewalt in on my snap on years ago and never looked back. I use it every single day!

I decided to go with the 18v Milwaukee. Wanted to do the snap on but I won't use it enough to justify the price. Ordered it through works account and got a good deal. Thanks for your help guys.

I've never had a Milwaukee tool that I didn't like.
