Dad was just given a new tear drop camper out of the blue and he currently has no way of towing it. I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee that has no hitch and was wondering what the current going rate to buy and have a hitch installed?

MOPAR brand hitch is just over $200. it is bolt-on but you do have to take rear plastic bumper off to install. look up the instructions on-line to see if you are comfortable doing it yourself. Just guessing but I'd bet you'd pay $150 or so for someone to install it.

other brands may install differently / more easily but usually that means they look like and afterthought and hang lower.

Was doing some towing back from Florida with the Wife's Edge, had Amazon Prime send me a hitch next day for like $150, had a local exhaust place install for $300.

Call Colfax trailer if you don't want to do it. I've always had good dealings with them.

I once found a super cheap trailer hitch for an XJ for like less than $100 new. Can’t remember where. It installed in about 30 minutes DIY. Super simple and cheap. I wouldn’t pay someone to do it on an XJ

Consider this opportunity to take a mental break from baby duty.
Hell from that standpoint, have your wife do it, it'll be good for her.

Look on etrailer.com, anything Curt or Draw-Tite or Reese will be fine. They have installation instruction PDFs on the product pages, and often install videos too. That will be enough info to figure out if you want to mess with it yourself or if there is any wierd stuff that you need to do. Most truck-like vehicles are pretty easy, especially if they were designed to have a OEM or factory accessory hitch.
