Just to update, another shop quoted him $11k for a replacement engine. 8-10 week back order on the engine of course.

Let em know I've got a 2012 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD with 150k miles I'd sell em for $15k and it'll be a hell of a lot more reliable than a Chrysler.

Tell him to call the manufacturer and talk to them. Many times they can grant a good will warranty

Chrysler going to cover 85% of the replacement cost, so my buddy only gotta pay a little over $2k. I’d call that a win.
