Coulda Been worse

Work truck and 14' trailer going over treacherous speed bumps, just crawling, and then this happened. I bought this hitch way back when in '21 Extended Hitch Reciever
It had a crack already at the bend and these speed bumps finished it off. Broke both chains too but they were thin due to dragging over the years.

Did it rust halfway through? Or is that love of a crack that rusted down into the crack?

It looks like it cracked previously at the penetration of the weld right at the bend if that makes sense.

weld was undercut and formed a crack from the flex. Been cracked for a long time.
