Its pretty easy to figure out why he wouldnt want to warranty them.
He has to give you tools off his truck that he has paid for (remember these are franchisee independent owners) and then ship the tool back and wait on replacements.

I am not sure who covers shipping, (snappy could chime in here) but even if it is covered by SO there is a period of time there where he can not sell that tool and make a profit...

Now granted its probably short sightedd on his part, but I can see WHY he did it

it's not like there were 100 tools to replace, I think there were 5-6 at the time. yes, I realize he'd be out the potential sales on given items until replaced.

Short sighted ? hell yes, he missed a shit load of sales as a result. 12 techs who are actually turning, how many shops have that going on ?

If he'd worked it out as replacing stuff once a month, I think it would have been a workable solution.
