I don't if any has ever listed an item an craiglist and gotten an email that says this -
-
"That's great. Though I'll be using the services of a mover who will come for the pick up of the item on my behalf all because I'm currently away for a contracting Job but I will send a Check through my Bank to cover the cost of the items. The check will be delivered to you by a reliable courier company within 2-3 working days. Please do provide me with your full mailing address, and also indicate your final price, the Name that should be on check and finally a cell phone #. Kindly delete the posting because am serious in buying it, when the funds clears then we can arrange for the pick up asap."

Regards,

But this is the second time I have gotten this crap on a item I was selling. Are people really that stupid to fall for this crap? I mean seriuosly if you are stupid enough to let some one buy from you when you never met them them and you have no contact info for them you deserve to be ripped off.

be careful, there are lots of good scams out there.

Maybe she was actually wanting to buy it and would follow through and for $280 I might could have chanced it. But it just seems like a pretty shady way to do buisness.

I just delete any reply I get that dosn't actually mention or reference what the item IS in their reply.

Exactly! I don't think I've gotten a scam email yet that actually mentioned the item or anything about it.

I always respond with something different. Like if I'm selling a set of wheels and I get that email I always reply that the large stuffed walrus is still available.

The best is when I got the same email, and all I responded with was "meow" and they sent an email back as if I had actually written a real response.

Dude, I got the same e-mail a month ago. It made my scammers sense tingle so I filed it in the trash can. I don't trust e-mail that doesn't talk about the item I'm selling and I've never sold anything on CL that they just bought. Normally It involves me jumping through hoops and spending most of my day with a tire kicker. Not every time but alot of times.

I had somebody try to get me to lower my price based on the kbb value. This was on a SASd 89 pickup on 35s. I told them if they are using the kbb, then they are not interested in my vehicle.

Always do deals in person with cash. This will eliminate 99.9% of scams. Best way to avoid tire kickers is to provide a ton of pictures, good description, and give a FIRM price.

Also, ask them to provide a phone #. If they aren't interested then they won't give this info out.

I've sold a ton of stuff on CL. Bought all of my vehicles on it too. Not once had a problem.

Same here I had a guy tell me my 99 4runner 4wd limited was worth $3000 kbb, i told him to bring me $3000 and see what it got him. I also got alot of people sending me a link to some insurance site, and ask me to check on the insurance for them cause there computer was slow? Had like 3 people try to get me to do that.

Scam the scammer. Make him spend the money on send you the money. Insist on UPS or Fedex only. Then tell him you changed your mind.

I got the same crap when I had my subaru listed. Wtf kind of scam is that, how desperate do you have to be to sell a car that you'd be willing to calculate a buyer's insurance premiums for them?

I also got some retards trying to lowball me when I had it posted for $2000 less than blue book... All that said, I've found some screaming deals on CL.

I won't ship without payment first and if I'm meeting someone I take a $50 paypal deposit ahead of time or I'm not showing up. Never been burned and people always show up if they've already put down some $$$

There is a place that gives money to people for directing people to them for an insurance quote, that's why they do that.

I hate the KBB thing too. When I was selling my AMX I had it listed for $3000 firm. The car was rough but had a built 401 and a 4-spd, so the engine alone was worth the $3k. I had a guy call me and say he had a restoration book that said it was worth $1200 so he would only offer me that. I told him I'd sell him the forged crank for that, he got pissed off and hung up.

Why is it that everytime I apply for a job, it directs me to go to the great job hunt .com?? Are all of these a scam too.
