I answered an ad on CL last week by email and also saw that he had a phone number but I just inquired by email. I didn't write down the phone number and the guy is slow to respond but still has the thing I want to get. He deleted the ad because he thought he had it sold to someone else. He did answer me that it fell through but I think he checks his email once a week.
Is there any way I can access the ad that's been deleted? I have the original ad URL but it doesn't come up when I click now, just says that its been deleted.

Dig through your browser history and see if a cached version will come up? Maybe. I'm not very computer savvy anymore.

Didnt think of that...problem is, this PC went down right after I contacted the guy and we had to reboot from an earlier date and all is wiped off of it because so much had to be done to get it working again.
Great idea tho.

I don't think you can retrieve it from CL. Sometimes I use the search site, & enter exact title if I have it, or similar. It gives me any post with that wording, except the deleted ones.
So you have no history of your "sent" or "deleted" items, in that time frame? Sometimes I try to retrieve an e mail, & fail; not enough Smarts!

What about an internet cache site?

He answered me Sunday night after I went to bed telling me the story that it wasn't sold yet. I had told him in my follow up message that he replied to that if it wasn't sold that I def wanted it and to consider it sold for his ful asking price and to give me details of when I could come get it at his convenience. He answered that he did still have it and how it had fell through but no details of pickup. I answered on Monday morning telling him again all of my contact info and that I definitely wanted it and was 100% on getting it but still no reply! No wonder his first deals fell through! Last night I did a Google Image search on the pic he used for the ad just to see if it was some type of scam and found it on another site but it was one of those sites that steal CL ads and posts on theirs. There was a phone number so I called it but it was a California number and they didn't know what I was talking about.:rolleyes:
I'll just keep waiting...

Update:
He finally got back to me and I went and picked up my next project that day. I'll start a thread called Uncle Ralph as soon as I get my PC working again.
