Crawl box behind a NV4500

I'm doing a little research as to running a doubler behind a LS series engine with a NV4500 tranny. I'd like to run a crawl box with an atlas 4 speed behind it, even better if I could use the 23 spline Atlas I already have. I've done some searches for "nv4500 crawl box" but I'm not turning up much. It looks like the only t-case that can be made into a crawl box is a np231. If that is the case(no pun intended) will the np231 hold up to a LS series motor with an Atlas 4 speed behind it?

You're definitely gonna want to upgrade to the 6 gear planetary gear set from a 231c case. Jeep cases only have 3 gears. I know some guys on pirate have run them behind 5.0 successfully however.

p.s. I know you already know this but your gearing is going to be insanely stupid low with all that going on.

That's the plan. Options are nice.

So I can run the 231 as a crawl box behind the nv4500 and use my 23 spline input atlas?

I know nothing about 4500s. As long as they have a 23 spline output and a 231 will bolt behind one your good to go.

that nv4500 should only be used in a tow rig....so I'll trade you a good SR4 w/ Fresh Dana 300....Deal...??

...don't have your answer on crawl box...just bringin the Sunshine in Here...good luck with your build...

depending on the 4500 it should have a 23spl (dodge) or 27spl (chevy) output... either way the 231/241 should bolt up to it with the correct input gear...

As said, with the upgraded planetaries I think it will hold up, but make sure to have a good mounting system, as some have had issues with the cases wanting to torque and crack/break...

Yeh, I think the weak link in that setup is going to be the thin cast aluminum 231 case.

If its an NV4500HD it will be a 29spl output. I have a leftover 29 to 23 spline adapter from AA from when I put a D300 behind my NV4500HD.
