Helping out a buddy build a new rig and are in the planning stages. We've got a pile of parts setting there and kicking around the ideas.

1. Build a fuel cell that tapers down like a funnel so you're never starve it out of fuel from being off sided. This seems pretty logical, but not seen it done. Are we missing something?

2. Installing electrical compression releases in each cylinder so in the event of a rollover you just flip a switch and turn the motor over and blow the oil out vs. pulling the plugs out.(same ones used in motorcycle engs) The main reason for this it's going to be a tight package(v8) in a small buggy and would be a huge time savings(more time to wheel) and easier than pulling plugs from around the header.

Any input would be great. I'll find the link to the compress releases so people get more of an idea of what I'm talking about.

Im still trying to figure out the compression release. My Teryx uses a ball in the cam controled by a 2 weights on the cam gear that pop open the exhaust valve. On something like a VVT toyota, it uses oil pressure on the cam gear to advance and retard the cam timing. It may be stupid simple but I can't figure it our right now.

Oh and the fuel cell idea is not uncommon. I've seen them used it cars quite a bit and that's similar to what Ill build for the JK. There are some guys on here that are top notch aluminum fab guys, I'd give them a shout.

It is very simple. The release use elctric sol. to open a small center section of the device. My thoughts were that it would let oil out without bending the rods.

In the bikes they go in the head next to the spark plug(you can see it in the link at the bottom of the page). I'm taking an old set of heads over to the machine shop when I get back from my trip to see if there is enough room to install a set into a SBC head.

im thinking the cycle style would work but they are a little small for oil passage....what's the size on the electric style never layed eyes on a set of those

where would the compression releases be installed?
just use a standard fuel cell and use these: http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/html/pickups.html
From what I understand, they work very well and are affordable. I have them for my buggy (yet to install)

I have those in my buggy in a 15 gallon RCI fuel cell. They came from snow mobiles from what information I could find. I think they were $9 each when I bought them. I'm surprised they've went up to $26 each.

The fuel cell ideal is cool. I have a buddy that put some gas in his and dropped a match with the lid off. The result is the all the panels are curved out including the bottom.

The compression thing isn't necessary. I've rolled mine many times and even with 11:1 compression never had a problem with oil filled cylinder. I have a toggle ignition switch. I leave it off and run the starter for several seconds to pump out the oil. Then start it up and let the rest burn out.

Dude! Just leave 4 of the plugs out when you go wheeling. Then you only have to pull 4 if you roll over and you will save half the time. MY way is so much easier in the long run. Or you could just not roll it over:)

Where the crap are you? Call me when you get a chance I need to make sure you are in for next Sunday.
