Creek clean up

I'm part of the Student Governmen't at school and thought it would be a good Idea to get some people together to clean out the creek that runs behind the college. I used to ride my bike to school every day, passing by the creek and seeing all the trash and tires in it. I talked to my advisor and we got it under way. We did this on May the 1st...the day I killed my back. We got 58 tires, 1 shopping car, a few bikes and lots of random junk out within about 3 hours. There wasn't much college student participation but the middle college sent some of their biology student to help out.

The tires were taking by the fellow in the bright yellow shirt to use for a wall in his paintball course in his woods.

I don't get why some people dump stuff everywhere.....
I've had some fishing holes get ruined because of it.

Plenty of landfills and garbage cans around.

Yep 58 tires. 90% of them were half buried in the mudd/sand. There was also a bunch of tubes, a leaf blower, and push mower.

I didn't see any snakes but I did see some small fish and crawdads. Other then being in the school cronical...nah I didn't get any additional credit. I mainly did it because I didn't want that shit to be in there anymore.

Good job Jeffy! This reminds me of all the stuff I saw in a creek while turkey hunting in PA a couple wks ago. Must have been at least 1ton of trash, 10 deer and half a dozen other animals dumped right in the creek by the road. I stood there thinking to myself, Damn morons are polluting the shit out of the very creek that the deer they're eating are drinking out of

There is a bike trail that runs down by this creek. I was shaggin down it one day with my headphone in and all the sudden I look to my right and "wtf". Someone had dumped a deer carcus. It scared the crap out of me.

You need to get ahold of the newspaper or something up there and I bet you will get some more participation. Good job on just seeing a problem and fixing it but the hard work is preventing.

Tell your local EPA people about the deer carcasses and they will have someone check it out in the fall so it doesnt hit the water supply.
