creepy?

I was already in favor of the death penalty for virus-writers. That clinches it.

Also, I'd rather shoot myself than have some chip implanted to supposedly raise my IQ. I don't want to go down that road.

who said anything about IQ? This guy's concern is medical devices.

ummmmm, it was in the article...

ah yeah but that's not even a real market or even likely to happen - that bit is hocus pokus wannabe science. The real problem is medical devices and ID tags, which are in effect now (and the primary topic of the article).

I can't wait for this to become more popular and cheap. I'll take the bullshit "mark of the beast" with no remorse. I'm all about no more paper money, no more keys, no more MVP/VIC/Lowes Foods cards. Just put it my wrist/hand. Its not like you can't have your ID stolen with the way things are now; how would it be any different?

Well for one it's alot easiesr to protect you id now. at teh very least you can lock those cards and keys away. W/ RFID, anybody/thing within proximity can read it.

i read that this morning. to add onto ratties post about the RFID....."they" would know where you are at all times.

I know as a marketing thing, Walmart, Home Depot and other big retailers have been pushing this technology for well better than a decade. The initial plan was to use RFID for inventory tracking between suppliers, distribution centers and stores. Eventually they want RFID tags in everything so that gives them the opportunity to "market" you directly. It also gives entities the ability to track you via their products. As if this weren't bad enough some folks think it's a great idea to make life easier while openly inviting "Big Brother" into our lives. If you like every thing you do being monitored by the government and/or corporations, have at it. I for one like my privacy, what little of it I still have.

Gimmickry FUD...

Software is software doesn't matter if it's on your desk or jammed up your butt...

This guy's testing something that could just as easily been tested without inserting the chip into his own body. Sure, he brings up a good point that medical devices need to be hardened against outside attack. But that is true only if it has networking built in.

Bah
