Hey guys, ive started collecting parts to do the waggy axle swap and spring over with waggy front springs. My ? is about the steering set up. Would it be better to run a crossover steering set up or a high steer. I know that high steer is actually better because you mount both the tie rod and the drag link up high, but has anyone ever had any problems with mounting the tie rod lower? Like hitting stuff and bending it. Ive been running stock yj steering and ive never had any problems with hitting it on stuff.

Thanks in advance, Travis

Going with crossover from the beginning will be cheaper, and you can use all the same parts if you want to eventually do a high steer. Just buy another flat top knuckle and high steer arm for the other end of the axle and you've got high steer. One thing I have noticed - for some reason, a high steer set-up has more stress than a crossover set-up and you may need to re-tighten your steering arm nuts after every other ride. Since the waggy pack has 7 leaves (I believe..), I would recommend going with a "tall" high steer arm, and possibly even a 1/2" spacer. If you get the 1/2" spacer, you won't need longer threads in the knuckle.

It's because you're steering from a place is was never designed to take steering forces from, not really more stress.. ;)
