Wanted to get the word out on this to you guys that made it up North to Crozet--Hope it's ok posting it here in the general forum:
Pete's Demise, Boulder Byway, Pastoral, Drivetrain Debauchery, Upper Sphincter, The Vortex, Heckler Hill: Just a sampling of the trail names familiar to anyone who had the chance to wheel with RCPFA on the original site in Crozet, VA.
Many of you are familiar with the land use issues faced by RCPFA over the last year, resulting in the loss of access to those trails. One of the saddest moments of that year was the final walk of the property removing the 48 various trail markers. Each one of those metal signs bears the name of a trail or obstacle which has challenged, entertained, and often frustrated any number of rock crawlers over the years!
After we finished that evening, we knew the signs were not destined for a landfill. Our initial thought was to split them among those that were there working that day, but a better idea came to light.
We knew that the signs were perfect for display in a garage, shop or office. Why not make the signs available to everyone who enjoyed wheeling on those trails and raise some funds for RCPFA by auctioning the signs?
Over the coming weeks, we'll be posting the signs in groups on Ebay, with opening bids of $10. We'll post up links to the auctions here as the various signs go up. At the end of auction all proceeds, less Ebay, Paypal, and shipping fees, will go directly to RCPFA.
RCPFA is still working on trail access for its members and organizing events such as the upcoming second iteration of our "Cheap Truck Challenge". Help the club achieve those goals of continued, legitimate rock crawling access; other vehicular fun and comraderie by grabbing your piece of history.
