is this workout alot like Cross Fit stuff? Ive got a friend who does the Cross Fit, he told me apparently he works out for something like 10 minutes a day, but its a super hardcore work out routine.

I dont think he uses weights in the routine besides a kettlebell though.

I have a friend in the military that did this workout with a bunch of his Marine buddies while they were stationed in Iraq. He said the majority of them threw up during the workout and/or couldn't stand or do anything after it was done. Said it took like 2 weeks or longer to not be sore everywhere after just one workout.

Don't know if he's still doing the workout or not, though since he got restationed to somewhere in Ohio to go to some class.

Yes similar. Its much more hardcore than the cross fit I was doing though. I'm gonna try to build up to this but it'll prob take a year haha. Mens health has some great cross workouts though. Mine takes about 20 minutes 3-4 days a week and I can barely move between days if I hit it like I should.

I have done the 300 workout several times as a test to see how my normal training is coming along. It is seriously crazy!

I do ZERO cardio:shaking:, but lift 4 days a week year round and wakeboard 4 days a week in the summer/fall. I'll do the 300 workout about once every two months or so.

My best time is 24:00 with a goal of 19:45. I have incorporated a few of the workouts into my normal routine to help the next time I take the test. As an example, yesterday was my Back day and I did 100 pull-ups broken up into 6 sets (1x25, 5x15).

My slowest are the box jumps and the floor sweepers. :handed:

Here is the workout:

a) Pullups - 25 reps

b) Deadlifts with 135lbs - 50 reps

c) Pushups - 50 reps

d) 24-inch Box jumps - 50 reps

e) Floor wipers - 50 reps

f) Single-arm Clean-and-Press with 36lbs Kettlebell - 50 reps

g) Pullups - 25 reps

I workout every day, about 30-1hr, and When I was watching the video, I was thinking to myself how I know how bad this is gonna whip my ass.

Do any of you guys find that the more you work out, you get stronger, but it never looks like you are getting any bigger?

so is this something that should be done daily?, 3 times a week?, or one in a while?. Should it be done in addition to a normal weight lifting routine on in place of? I realize it will be a ball buster so i dont plan to be fast at it, but i would like to give it a try for some variety or change of pace...

...I looked at those kettle bells at dick's and they are like $80 bucks for a 35lb one. would a 35lb dumbbell not serve the same purpose?

If you're not eating enough protein you're not gonna get any bigger. when you work out, you're destroying some muscle tissue, and if your diet doesn't provide enough protein to replace what's lost and then some, you won't build more.

you get stronger without getting bigger because your brain is literally getting better at accessing the muscle you already have. Plus if you're just getting into shape, your muscles have fat in them (just like marbling in steak) that makes them look bigger... so as you work out, you lose that fat, and build new muscle, but the overall change in size is negligible for a while.

it is pretty hardcore, my cousin and i have been doing it off and on for about a month or so. we found a three tier version, the first level is like 5 pullups each time and a minute of rest between each ecercise, and it gets progressively harder. you move to the next tier when you can complete the one you're on with ease. the workout with 300 total reps is like the "final test".

im in good shape and that shit would kill me

i used a dumbell. kettle balls are cool and all and strengthen different areas of your arms...but not so much i would spend alot of money on them. and i would probably start out 3-4 times a week, and maybe do cardio and abs on your days off. or...cardio and abs on the days you do 300 and regular lifting routine on your days off. or just take the damn days off as far as that's concerned.

i'll try to find a link to the version i've been using...but it was photocopied from a mag.

Yea everyone needs to watch burning out. If you don't rest your muscles won't grow. I get jittery on my days off and can't stand it. Was doing a light workout on those days and going to sub in 5-10 miles on the bike 3x a week, 3 days of this, and 1 day off for  . Everyone just forgets to follow diet up and thinks they are going to look/feel better. Best thing to remember if you start acting/eating healthy the girlfriends tend to follow your lead!

Thanks for the link chuck thats exactly what I wanted to see with the step up.

huh, id probably make it through the first 10sec and pass out. i walked up two flights of stairs this morning and was hasseling lol. i need to ditch the cancer sticks.

I did the´easy´version in the link posted above and it was pretty tough! My lower back and traps are pretty sore. I will probably do it a few more times before I move up.
