I know the vehicle doesn't quite fit here, but I have a 04 Intreped that the c/c will automatically disengage on it's own for no reason. This problem seems to come and go. On top of that, last week a transmission code came up and then the car went into limp mode. After about an hour of setting around, the check engine light was still on but it had come out of limp.

Anyone had any problems like this before?

Power surge or electric interruption, brake light or sudden high reving of motor will trip off cruise. Probably other issues with engine ,trans or computer are trippin cruise. I'd start with a good scanner.

I am using a scanner but it is one of the cheaper ones. Will a more expensive scanner help more? The one I am using gives the code # and then look it up in the book.

Sounds like a speed sensor issue. I would def find someone with a snapon solus machine or something similar to diagnose your problem. It will pinpoint it so you arent throwing parts at it.

Damn thing keeps going into limp mode. I am coming up with a tcm malfunction and it is a $500 part and prob buried in the trans.
