Cruise control shuts off intermittently

I just got my 07 JKU Sahara last month and noticed that while cruising down to Wilmington on 40, that the cruise cancels itself if I plug anything into the power outlet. Basically the "cruise" light in the instrument cluster turns off at the same time the speed control disengages and it cannot be re-enabled at all by pushing the cruise on/off button on small arm behind the steering wheel.

I then checked to see if the outlet was loose and causing shorts, and after pulling the bezel off everything is tight and no signs of shorts or anything.

The only way to regain cruise is to pull over, shut off and re-start the vehicle. Then everything is back to normal and the cruise can be turned on and off normally. Really odd.

Any help would be great.
 
Now, I have the airbag sensor warning going off... In case anyone else runs into this, it may be the clock spring which is covered as an extended warranty item by Chrysler (10 years, 150k miles)... I have an appt tomorrow at the dealership in Cary, so we'll see how that goes.
