does anyone know if we need a passport to leave from the same port you return to? i know you use to be able to but i dont know if the rules change all the time and i was wondering if anyone else knew? thanks guys i found some information on google but i wasnt sure how "fresh" the information was

I couldn't go on my cruise without one. Mine was only checked before getting on the boat in Canaveral. All the stops along the way I just showed my drivers lic. and my room key.

It can, but realistically expect a lot less. If you need it sooner, contact your Congressman's office, they can expedite the process for ya.

There are several people at work who have recently went on a cruise. None of them got a passport, and they all went on the Islands during the cruise. They said only thing was that if they had needed to leave the Island by another means than the cruise ship, they would have had to have a pass port.

Where are you going? That is probably the most important question.

W/o one, you may not be able to leave the ship atcertain destinations (like the Bahamas).

was just looking at a few and registered so they called me today and it comes to find out you do NOT need a passport to go on a cruise with carnival if you come back to the same port you set sail from. Im about to get laid off from work and they offer a severance package. I should get a check for about 2400 bucks, so i plan to book us a trip from miami flordia to cozmel mexico, grand cayman and ochio rios jamica. do some work to the jeep to get it back right and sit on the rest till i find another job. I will draw enough in unemployment to pay all my bills so im not really worried about the lay off. Me and my fiancee are going to have a good time with our time off.

I'd still get the passport. The rules seem to change every day, you don't want to get stuck.

Just got back from Carnival cruise with my sister to Grand Caymans and Cozumel. Had to show passport before getting on the ship leaving from Tampa. At the islands, all that was required was sail and sign card and photo ID (drivers license) to get through security at dock. Had to have passport again to go through customs when getting off the ship at Tampa.

Your best bet would be to contact the cruise line and see what they require. My wife went to Cozemel last fall and did not need our Passprt at any ports.

What he said. It has changed a lot recently. Especially with Mexico. But also, didn't you just buy a house? Spending your entire "severance" on a cruise in a time where there are few jobs around and unemployment "benefits" are being cut, not the smartest thing you've done. That's what lake james is for brah.
