Edit: Reservations are confirmed.. I'll be there Thursday nite anyone up that way swing on by... Don't think you will miss my trailer/camper...

Also got some background info. There is a gas station 3/10th mile from the campground. and it's only ~3miles via trail over the mountain to Evarts, KY Takes ~15-20min by trail or 30miles on road to drive over through Harlan to Evarts.

does anyone plan to go to harlan in the next couple months? i know there is a ride on 22 23 24th of july, but its my wifes b-day so i am looking for another trip. never been and would really like to go.

i am still trying to make it. don't keep your finger crossed. with the heat it been sort hard to get things done. i don't know if i want to drive the whole way to harlan for a test run. but its coming along good.

why did start a project right before a ride. if i don't make it would anybody like ride towards the end of the month.

Is there going to be a Sunday ride?

I'm planning on coming up Friday, riding Sat & Sun, and then coming back Monday, but if everyone is heading out Sunday morning, I need to leave at lunch straight from work.

Also, Any preferred routes from the Triangle/Triad? Google has me going 40 --> 74 --> 77 --> 81 --> 421

I'm sure there will be some riding Sunday. Depends on if my junk holds together or not for me :) Yes on the route. 40 to 52N in Winston, bypass at Mt Airy connects to 77N onto 81S at Fort Chiswell, 181N in Kingsport becomes 23/58/421 in Weber City, 421 to Harlan, right on 38 to Evarts trailhead or right on 119 to Putney trailhead. Usually takes me 4:45 from Greensboro running 5 over the limit, one stop. The Fancy Gap pull on 77 is no where near as bad as Black Mountain, the only real pull is on 421 heading out of Duffield, pretty long pull, other than that not a bad trip. Be sure to take the bypass in Weber City/Gate City and not go through town, as me how I know :)

Thanks... I'm heading striaght from work on Thursday at noon.. it'll give me a 45 minute head start vs. from home.
