Cummins skip fire engines.

It's worth trying. In the year 2040, I hope to have saved up enough to buy a new diesel truck, upon which I intend to immediately delete it and roll coal on all the EVs!
 
Sounds like something else for tuners to turn off, just like they do with the gas engines.

Cadillac tried that shit back in the 80's and it didn't work.

I don't know anything about that, but I do know that everyone I know with a GM or Chrysler that has the multi displacement systems goes to a tuner to get it turned off. Not sure if skip fire will be better or worse than how the current mds systems work (if there's even a real difference), but I bet someone will figure out how to make the engine not do it.
