cummins trans question

I'm looking at a 01 cummins with a auto trans and the owner says that from 1-2 gear it shifts when you left off throttle or high rpm's and states that it has somethin built in the transmission to help with towing. Can I get some help or advice on this, I want to buy the truck but don't it to have trans prob's an get stuck with a bad trans. Thanks for looking.

That truck isnt for sale on here by chance is it? My cummins isnt a auto, but that doesnt sound right to me.

Apps sensor, noise filter, possibly internal valve body issue. Without a actual diagnoses its hard to say

It's on here the guy says that's What its supposed to do like maybe a shift kit or somethin.

Ummmm no. sounds like that guy is an idiot. Could also be low voltage on a shift solenoid from loose battery cables or the solenoid going out. Could also be a misadjusted "kickdown cable. My previous 01 cummins had a very well built auto and shifted just fine. Im working on a buddys 99 cummins today that has the same problem going from 2-3 gear. Reworked the battery cables and it shifts fine and his is on a fresh built tranny as of 3 months ago. The tranny should NOT hold gears like that, it is a sign of something wrong and an idiot driver to let it keep going on.
