Buddy of mie who work's in the auto salavge industry was telling me that Steel and fuel prices seem to run the same, gas prices are high, so are scrap prices, gas price drops, so does scrap.
couldn't really explain the relationship, but I'll take the lower fuel prices thanks.
$2.50 at Foss in Durham being the highest in the RDU area as of last week. I have a list of 18 dealers within 100 miles of me that I call regular waiting for a spike. I have about 7 trailer loads waiting at my rental house. Good thing I have a good renter who doesn't care and the property has a rear area that is out of sight / mind. I couldn't even earn beer money to take a weeks vacation from my day job to do it right now. Everyone is just sitting on it.
Same with scrap aluminum as well. I have 3 family members giving me trash bags at a time and the pile is starting to take over. I'm starting to look like a recycle facility!
Yep. I sold some scrap to Foils in Harrisburg last week for $1.89/100#. I look at it like this- at least now you don't have to stand over your stuff with a shotgun to keep the scrappers away from it. Fawking scrappers are the devil.
