custom cut axles

I am building a set of 14 bolt steer axles. how do i measure the inner axle length.

If for some reason the shaft is too long it could bind and cause problems. If it's too short then it will still have plenty of material for the spider gear, so I always measure it 1/8" short for a safety margin.

100% ask the guy that is splining your shafts.

That being said...why not build them to a common length so you can buy off the shelf shafts?

14b doesn't use common spline so they're all custom anyway

I want the rear to be centered so I don't run into any drive line issues.
