I have to believe this is possible, just have never asked any local shops...

do the places like Lids (the hat shop) have the ability to scan a photo/design and then have the machine stitch it automatically?

does it match colors, too? or just the design?

anybody here work at one of those type shops?

Greg

I will keep an eye on this thread. I have been wanting to get some info on this too. I know it sounds "corny" but I have a coat that I use to wheel in, and to put patches on from the places I have been, things I like to do, and of course, some Jeep patches. CTB has patches with the club logo on them.
Me, I just think they are kewl

They can do it, they call it "digitizing" the image...lots of hoops to jump thru assigning colors, etc. I used to have a client that was an embroidery shop, seems like they charged $50 to $100 to digitize most images. Much, much cheaper to use a stock image that they just have to pay a few bucks for the rights to. That's been a couple or four years, though.

it wasn't at lids, but it was similar, but they did embroidery on hats there in the store....anyway...they wouldn't scan anything for me, i had to choose from the book. the book sucked.

but there are places that will do it, your best bet would be to try to find a "mom-n-pop" type of operation, somebody that does all the polo shirts for the local greasy spoon, or the high school cheerleading squad. sews greek letters on shirts for frats/sororities. that kinda crap.

Greg, check with MCJEEP on our board, he can do embroidery work.

thanks!!

it's gonna have to be a mom-n-pop kinda place, or somebody that knows somebody...

as most know, AT&T bought BellSouth (don't let the paper/TV try to convince anybody it was a merger)...and we're re-doing our uniforms...

problem is, I have two $200 Goretex jackets with BellSouth on them...and AT&T doesn't offer Goretex since they couldn't find any "Made in the USA" jackets that offered it...

so, I got a ripped jacket from somebody, and want to have somebody duplicate the AT&T logo (meaning I can't just choose from a book) onto two "patches" so I can have them sewn over the BellSouth logos on the jackets...

probably need 4 of them total...

do you have a website or price list by color/size/etc? Are there price breaks by volume?
I have a couple patch ideas I've been working on also...

I'm in the process of getting our site up and running now. I don't make patches I do direct application embroidery.
As far as woody's jackets go I would have to see them to see how tight the stiches are in the logos. If they are not too bad I might be able to remove the old logos and embroider the new ones in the same spot.
