Anyone know of a place around the Triad to have the centers cut out of a set of H1's? What is the going rate for a job like this?

i just got done cutting the centers out of a set of tractor rims to weld in the center for my rockwell axles. wasnt as bad as i thought. just used a compass and sharpie to scribe the cutout lines. then took the torch to them

when I put new centers in mine ,they weren't H1's but I don't see what difference it would make, I just cut them with a torch. It wasn't hard. If you don't have a torch just take it to a local fab shop or someone on here.

i have done 2 sets and cutting them with a torch or plasma is the way to go they don't have to be perfect because they have not affect on the way the centers go in. the worst part was that both the ones that i did had alot of paint on them and had a tendency to flare up just clean where you cut good before you start.

if your gonna run em on the hi-way you need a precise cut for them to balence out. also a torch will put too much heat in the wheel and warp it.

you'll also need a percise uniform weld all the way around for them to balance perfect but I didn't think you wanted them to ride on the highway. Cut mine with torch they didn't warp but I welded new centers (on one side) before cutting out old ones. They did fine. If you haven't done them yet I will.

I did mine on a bridgeport. Just a 3 axis manual, no rotary table or anything. Has worked out well so far.

I've heard of that stuff, but these are just painted black.

I would find a machine shop with a large capacity machine lathe, have em cut clean and centered. That's just me.
