I hope I put this post in the right forum...

1994 Nissan Sentra
1.6 with Overdrive
no ABS (no ABS light)

I just replaced these today. I start filling the tranny fluid and its pouring out of the drivers side axle (Like it does when you remove it). There was a little metal ring near the end of the spline that could have been a seal. I'm thinking I may have boogered it up. Before I tear it back down does anyone know what may have happened? Now I'm not 100% if it's seated all the way but the open diff works right.

Thanks,
rbo

You don't have the axle seated in the trans all the way, PUSH on the inner joint till it clicks in.

It is possible you nicked the seal as well.

( the differance in ABS VS non ABS CV axles is the ABS axle has a tone ring on the outter joint to allow sensor to read wheel speed)

Oh, and though it isn't 4x4 related, ya, it's in the right forum

Thanks Blkvoodoo,

You were right on the money, I didn't have the C-Clip all the way in. I backed the big nut off and tapped it right in with a 1lb DBH. Took it for a drive, everything seems ok. I don't think I hit the seal, but I'll keep an eye on it.
