CV44 vs Mikuni HSR42 (Samurai Carb)

I had fabbed up a home brew side draft carb adapter onto the Sami 1.3l using a CV40 and cannot for the life of me get it to act right. Apparently this is a pretty common issue and basically everyone says to just buy the Screaming Eagle 44 (CV44). Bad part about that is that you cant find any cheap ones anymore and I really don't want to drop the $300ish dollars on it. I've noticed that Low Range has a kit with a Mikuni HSR 42 and has anyone had any experience with the Mikuni carbs? I can find them better suited to my price range and it seems they may also be an easier swap seeing as you don't need to modify the throttle linkage.

Opinions?

I dont have any info, other than I had the same issue with the CV40 in the past. Seems a few folks on Irate are running the toyota carb with success.

I think this is what @paradisePWoffrd is talking about the guys on Irate4x4 are using.

yea ive tried the 3k on it first and unless you buy the one from certified machine, they can be temperamental too. I really dont want to spend the coin on something thats not going to be in there that long so lets see how well the HSR 42 works....
