D-shaft u-joint rubbing pinion nut???

Specs:

Ford HP D60
1310 yoke
1310 joint

The joint rubs the pinion nut, bad enough to kind of bugger the nut, and mess up the joint, but not so bad it doesn't work

Ideas to fix?

do you have any pictures? i don't understand how it's rubbing unless you have the wrong flange on the pinion.

my bro's 9" did it on his race car w/ this one gear set, the pinion busted the joint by pinching it when flexed.. We just hit it with a grinder and painted it to spot any new contact.. Was fine after that..

I was thinking about grinding the nut/pinion a little, I think I will do that, it isn't rubbing TOO bad, but a little clearancing will help.

This is the same issue I have been having on my rig. My front wraps so bad that the ujoint ubolts in the yoke are almost worn in two. I have broken the tabs out of three yokes this year, so.....I just installed a strap from the nose of the pinion to a fixed upper support. Flexed it out and did some measuring and came up with a length I hope will limit my pinion wrap and not hurt my flex. Will be testing at the SFWDA convention next weekend.

It had gotten so bad that it loosened the pinion nut...

I ground the pinion nut some, and found a thinner washer to replace the really thick pinion washer. Shouldn't rub anymore.
