D30 Differences

Can anyone tell me what the major diffrences are between a YJ Front D30, and an XJ Front D30. Besides the gearing.

Can I take a YJ front D30 and install it in my XJ without major surgery?

Nope, YJ=Leaf Springs F&R your XJ uses Coils up front and leaves in the rear.

Okay, other than cutting off the spring perches and welding on coil bases, is there anything else?

not all XJ D30s are the same some are high pinion, some are low. I can't remember which the YJ is. Then there's the vacuum axle disconnect on the long side...all YJs have it, some XJs do.

You'll also need the mounts for the upper and lower control arms. The trackbar may be similar or different, that I'm not 100% sure on.

The good news is that the bolt pattern and width are the same.

Xj 30's are high pinion up until 99 or 2000. Also after 91 it will be a non disco version.

YJs are High Pinion. To the OP, what year XJ do you have?
