i've got a 99 xj that i bought off of here. the guy i got it from had it built and doesnt know what shafts are in it. already tried that. here is the problem. had a bad uni-bearing on the passenger side so pulled it off and headed to the auto parts store. usual cherokee owner stuff. they pulled one off the shelf and handed it to me. after opening the box and comparing it i notice the bad bearing had a 1/4" larger i.d. spline in it. the guy pulled every bearing that he had off the shelf for comparison but no luck. its a dana 30 with the teraflex high steer kit. it still has the stock 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern but the outer shaft spline o.d. measures 1.3 inches. does anyone have an idea as to what type of other vehicle they may be out of? thanks.

sweet i will count them in the morning. thanks for the info. what is ecgs? you have the number or know where i can get it?

See if they are Grand Cherokee shafts...my buddy put those in his xj and said the shafts were a little bigger

thanks fellas. i counted the splines this morning and sure enough the shafts are 30 splines. in the process of talking to chase at ecgs now. thanks again.

alloy usa also sells 30 spline unit bearings

ok talked to chase and narrowed it down to a ford explorer rear but not sure what year yet. waiting on him to let me know. does anyone know any info on the 4wd explorers with the independent rear susp? such as, are all the axles the same size, does it varie for year to year, ect?

scratch that!!!!!! bearing will have to made by currie now. just gonna swap it out to 27 spline 297 joint outers. anyone got some they want to part with? haha!

I don't think that is true, at least of ZJ's. I swaped my old D-30 Alloy USA outer shafts from my TJ into the original ZJ unit bearings.
I'm running the Alloy USA 30 spline upgrade in my TJ so I know you can get a 30 spline unit bearing from Alloy USA through Chase unless the shaft diameter is different. As to what it comes off of, I think it was a Dodge product but not sure.

you got me then...if it's a Dana Axle...it should have a BOM # stamped into the axle tube next to the pumpkin...unless ground off or welded over...some may also have a stamped tag on the diff cover w/ part #'s etc... that's a good starting point to tell what it's OEM application was....from there what's been modified can be a puzzle...

these were 27 spline unit bearings that were rebroached by uknown company supposedly currie but i called currie they were clueless to what they actually do. Finally found him one through new company that bought alloy- Omix. But they raised there prices significantly. Tye I left you a message if you need one let me know I found them, the price I left you can be discounted in a few days once I get set up with the new company that was a retaill price ill get the discount in a few days. thats great to hear about the discount. hope to get it next week. to everyone reading this, if you need anything concerning axles, chase is a great person to deal with. try him out. you wont go anywhere else after you do.
