Still working on my buddies 84 CJ7, the speedo drive assembly that fits in the t-case is not making contact with the gear drive on the output shaft of the t-case, therefore the speedo cable doesn't turn. I know these can be clocked to different positions on the t-case so it will make contact with the drive gear, however this one doesn't seem to make any difference where I clock it to, it won't make contact. The speedo has never worked since he bought this thing, so this is probably some rigged up stuff for the PO. Any help? I really think All I need is the correct speedo drive that slides in the output area of the D300. any help? know where to pick one up?

I'm not seeing the part number in the 4wd hardware catalog. They should be able to tell you more at 330-482-6400.

I can try to help, but you've probably got more experience than I when it comes to mechancs.

Are you asking all the "stupid" questions about the situation? (The more advanced you are, the more likely to get hit by the "stupid" question).

Does the gear turn the speedo shaft when you turn it by hand?
Are the teeth any good?
Is the worm gear slipping?
What is the state of the case (on a bench, on the rig, etc)?

I believe there is a formula for the clocking of the gear based on its number of teeth, do you have the haynes for it sitting around? I believe that if there IS a formula it would be there.

Another resource is: http://www.omix-ada.com/ THEY make repro parts
Also, http://www.willysoverland.com/ -- BUT I believe like 4wd hardware they get their parts from omix-ada... 4wd hardware had the best tech support, and has done me right over the years. I'm hoping the merger with 4wheel parts will not change that.

PS. Pics?

Greg,
I have one as well if you need it. Just give me a shout on my cell.
