Rebuilding a 89 Grand Wagoneer D44 axle to do a SAS on my Nissan Hardbody. I put the new ball joint in the flattops knuckles and low and behold come to find out I need what Dana refers to as a Sleeve Socket (P/N: #C-4169). Couldn't find it anywhere near home. Anybody got one? If not, any ideas where to find one? I only need it for the weekend, so I could return it by Jan. 26 if borrowed from somebody on the forum.

Thanks in advance,
Brandon

I got mine from completeoffroad.com. Too bad you aren't closer. Whatever you do, don't go into the local autozone or advance and ask for one...they act like you're an idiot. "There's no such thing as a ball joint adjuster sleeve".

i do realize that most of the links will not help you in your predictament, but it can get you started if you wish to buy one in the furture... but i would definitely check the snap-on truck, i would say it is your best bet.

If nobody in the UNCC or Albemarle/Badin areas doesn't have one, I'll buy one by Tuesday. Thanks for the links.

Had my fair share of this. After I mounted my York, I went in to Advance and asked for a 57" V-belt and the guy behind the counter asked "Year, make and model?". After explaining my application and that it wouldn't be listed, I finally got the manager to walk around the back and get it for me.

When I asked about the sleeve socket, he typed in 'sleep socket' and I just walked off to find the manager to ask. To his credit, the guy's a new employee, but it seems like I get him everytime!

yeah its really wierd when you say you need brake pads for your jeep and in their search you have them get you 75 K5 front pads, 97 Exploerer rear pads, and tell them that they go in you 97 wrangler that you just pulled up in. And then when they ask what kind of axles you have in it, you tell them it's a 86 grand wagoneer front and explorer rear. never a dull moment at the parts store.

When I did mine I just adjusted it by hand and then installed the ball joint.
