does the 70 with 35 splines stock have anything over a dana 60 thats bored out for 35 spline shafts? im wanting a 70, but just lookin at the cost effectiveness and efficiency of goin 70 over 60, i know the cost is one advantage over the 60. anything else?

Bigger gears.

Bigger gears also comes a loss of ground clearence.

If you have the d70 donor, just hack the d60 spindles off and weld on the d70spindles. Insert d70 spiders into d60 carrier and weld. finito

van D60

My D60 from a ford E350 van accepted 35 splines without mods. HD tubes (3.5") as well.

$0.02

really you didnt have to bore it out for the 35 spliners? thats interesting.

35 spline

yes, thats correct-o. actually this was a true D60 (not a D70) as it was stamped in the BOM - late 80's ford E350 SRW van. and the hubs were standard issue. just the tubes were HD and the tubes were large. with 1/16" per side extra room for the 35 spliners. Its pretty dang beefy for a 60 rear. I got the shafts from Yukon and they slid right in.:smokin:
