What is the going rate for a newer metric pattern Dana 60 out of an F350? Is $650 a good deal?

Thats about the going rate. They're not very desired in the offroad world for several reasons. There is one listed on this board and has been for a looong time.

$500 - $1200 for a stock axle.
Just depends on the seller/features/condition of the axle.

78-79 adds value (longer driver side axle tube)
78-91 adds value (Kingpins)
Complete in good shape adds value - Tie rod, track bar, spring perches, brakes. The condition of moving components - hubs, kingpings or ball joints, U-Joints, differential/pinion bearings are something to take into effect. Also need to look for bent tubes.

Some people think they're made of gold.....

I had to drive 6.5 hours to get it, but I scored a complete 88 in great condition for $500.

Yeah, but those are the real 60's that are worth swapping into your junk.

Im pretty familiar with the value of those. I found what I thought was a deal on a newer one, but now it appears to just be a fair deal.

Im not too bothered by the unit bearings.

Anybody know what it takes to make it 8x6.5 bolt pattern?

New unit bearings or get those welded up and redrilled.

Dana 50...not worth much
