Just bought a 79 F350 D60 front and rear...

My question is what all besides 35 spline carrier, and locker that supports 35 splines and of course chromos do ya have to need to run 35 spline setup in front?

Anything at the hub need swapped over?

Sorry i dont know much about 60s yet...

The inner shafts are 35 spline stock. The outer shafts are 30 spline. You have to buy 35 spline drive flanges or 35 spline locking hubs when you upgrade the outer shafts from 30 to 35 spline.

The Front Dana 60 is already a 35 spline inner, it's the outer that is 30 spline. Several levels of upgrade. I kept the stock inner axles, so far no issue with them. I upgraded to 35 spline outers. You can get 35 Spline lock out hubs, but IMO they are all junk. Just too thin to be strong. I went with drive flanges.
There are different types of flanges, some that you can easily take out the drive slug(s) for easy on the tires driving on pavement. and like mine, not so easy to remove for such driving.
So if you already have the gear you want to run, all ya need is a locker, and outers to really improve the dependability, and of course the flanges.

ok i didnt know the inner was all ready 35spline......

So all ill have to do is buy a carrier that supports 4.10 and up gears the locker for 35 spline, outer chromos, and drive flange 35 spline

that saves me alot of money

ok that helps out alot....THANKS!!

Also I found 5.38 gears that fit 4.10 &down carrier.....which means i wont have to change carriers right? i dunno why im so confused this morning lol

I think 4:56 & numerically higher, 4:10 & numerically lower. I have a 35 spline carrier it's 4:10. Yours for $45

*edit* the carrier I have is from a low pinion.

On high pinion use the same carrier for all gears.

Yes, you need 35 spline stubs and flanges.

BTW - I have a set of 35 spling flanges for $135 shipped

So if the gear set says "it fits 4.10 and down carrier" the front carrier shouldnt have to be replaced even thou it is a 5.38 gear?

High pinion axles are different and require reverse cut gears. On reverse cut all gears fit the same carrier unless you get special gears. Anything above 4.10 should be a thick gear. Just call chase at ECGS and he can tell you better than me.

Unless your runnin some god awful huge tire and insane horsepower you'll be able to get by for a while w stock outters.I broke 1 in six years w a fullsize blazer on 38's.

^^^^ We've used them and sold a couple sets, you have to set them up just right. But they are strong as hell, no real problems out of them just that you're broke after you buy them.

I need some spare 30 spl D60 hubs. Those dynatrack hubs are nice but isn't that about double what flanges are? Also isnt there a warn 35spl hub available for about $250?

Yes, they are pricey, but you can't unlock a drive flange with just a quick turn of a knob.

Warn does make 35 spline lockouts, and I've got them on my cab truck. Friends of mine though have blown apart the Warn's and Tera brand lockouts, and had to step up to either drive flanges or the Dynatrac lockouts.

Jeremy, I have upgraded 35 spline outers and run warn locking hubs. I agree with others that the drive flanges are stronger, the locking hubs are my weak point, but I am generally pretty easy on the go pedal and haven't had a problem.
What I understand about an aussie locker, it disengages when you are off the throttle, so I would expect it would work as you describe but don't have personal experience with that setup.

Ive got a Aussie in front of my jeep now and lockright in rear and its ideal i think for street and beast offroad....bc it still has street manners...

Im planing on D60 F&R

Rear- Spool, 5.38, 35 spline axles, Solid diff cover
Front - Lockright, 5.38, 35 Spline outers, Solid diff cover, ECGS drive flanges

I just dont know much about 60s....so ima have a ton a questions....THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!

as far as i know aussie does not offer a locker for a 60 yet,ive got an extra set of 4.10's(R&P) rev cut if needed.i have blown apart a set of MM 449ss hubs on my 60,ironically ive beaten the dog snot outta my stock lockouts and the only one i broke was when my stub shaft exploded.

spending $450 on yukon stubs and mile marker hubs is kinda like paying to get kicked in the nuts. Im just saying.

Slugs- Strongest option/no quick unlocky
Dynatracs- Strongest hub available- pocket book destroyer
Warn Premium Hubs- Good Hub, Lifetime warranty, easy trail repair making good fuse. Definetly breakable with heavy foot boucing and wheel spin. But agian something has to break hubs are much more fun to replace then ujoints, shafts and R&P's

sorry my Dana 60 knowledge isnt what it needs to be yet....

When you say slugs you mean drive flange right??

and how would that act with a Lockright in the front?

def wanna upgrade outter stubs, just blew both sides apart this weekend...ones got a nice twist to it
