D60 high steer question

You all have probably figured this by now, but new to the D60 scene. Working on a high steer set up. Few questions,
1) it appears that when you install the high steer arms, you do not use the original caps and springs. Is this correct?

2) can you just buy the seals and plastic cup for the king pins or do you have to purchase the whole rebuild kit and use what you need?

3) On the high steer arms, is there an advantage/disadvantage to having the drag link attached to the high steer arm (two holes on passenger arm) vs having one hole on passenger side and it attached to the tie rod?
 
Steve, if you can't get them where I said, do a search on EBAY, under dana 60 high steer, many choices there.
 
Most high steer arms come with a plastic cup, generally all you need when putting arms on. The Ballistic arms that I sell don't use the spring due to the set screw but the double shears do come with new springs. Most quality arms come with everything you need.
Personally I like running the drag link directly to the steering arm due to the amount of stress it would put on the tie rod if it was run like a y link. If that is not a option then its not a bad thing to run it on the tie rod, just not my first choice. Most of the time is depends on what space will let you do.
 
There are advantages/disadvantages to both style steering set-ups. I prefer the "inverted T" arrangement (where the draglink connects to the tierod) on my high steer systems for a couple of reasons...
- The tierod end of the draglink is in pure rotation so it cannot bind.
- It maximizes the lever arm on the left steering knuckle. Due to space/geometry constraints, most of the 2-hole right arms put the draglink a lot closer to the centerline of the ball joints. This greatly increases the required force through the draglink to turn that left wheel.
